Over the last five years with Protiviti I’ve been to a handful of conferences for internal auditors. Recently I’ve met more people who just started a new job at a company that wants them to develop their internal audit function from scratch. I can only imagine what a daunting task that would be for anyone to take on right after being hired.
Then, I remember why I’m at the conference and start asking them if some audit program templates and checklists might be helpful. When they express interest in KnowledgeLeader, I offer them a free extended access trial so they can browse the templates themselves. Our templates will help them save time so they don’t have to start from scratch, or even just to benchmark their current work.
Once they have an understanding of the company and its goals, and have developed a strategy for the audit function, there are a few places I would highlight: our new risk and control matrices (exclusive to subscribers), our audit programs, and our popular policies and procedures. All of these templates are downloadable in Microsoft Office applications. They are to serve as a starting point and then must be tailored and customized to fit each company’s needs. Lastly, if staff is needed to accomplish the plan, they might want to take a look at our audit job descriptions as well.
If this sounds familiar and you would like to access these resources yourself, KnowledgeLeader is having its bi-annual sale on new subscriptions. From now until the end of the year, you can take 20% off new subscriptions, including groups, using promo code 12DEC15. Hopefully that gives you a kick start on your projects like it has so many others.
