A few weeks ago I did a post on KLplus, our subscription upgrade that adds access to online courses for CPE credit. Since then I’ve had a few people ask what CPE stands for and why they would need it, so I thought I would answer.
First, CPE stands for Continuing Professional Education and is a type of education required for various professional fields to stay updated and attain a broader understanding of their industry. KnowledgeLeader and Protiviti are registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, so our courses are generally eligible for CPE credits for CPAs.
The second question is why you would need CPE credits. The easy answer is, if you have to ask, you probably don’t, but you should check. Certified Internal Auditors (CIAs) and Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) have guidelines set by their certifying boards. For CIAs, you might want to check with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) for more details, or the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) for CPAs.
Another good reason to take CPE courses is just for training's sake. Our KLplus courses are a convenient way to stay up to date on audit and risk topics on your own schedule. Take a look at the current catalog and see if the program is right for you!
